In 2007 or 2008, the McGuinty Government appointed the Built Environment Standards Development Committee under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act to develop recommendations for a Built Environment Accessibility Standard to address barriers that persons with disabilities face in Ontario's built environment. That Standards Development Committee presented its final recommendations to the Ontario Government in the summer of 2010
